Drosophila Apoptosis and the Regulation of the Caspase Cascade
نویسنده
چکیده
The caspase cascade in Drosophila is controlled primarily by DIAP1 (Drosophila inhibitor of apoptosis), which exerts its regulatory effect by ubiquitinating the caspase DRONC, thus targeting it for proteasomal degradation. Proapoptotic signaling stimulates auto ubiquitination by DIAP1 and frees DRONC to activate downstream caspases.

Elephantopus scaber Linn Extract Induces Apoptosis And Activate Caspase Cascade In T47d Cancer Cell Line
Elephantopus scaber Linn. was used traditionally for treating various diseases. Previous studies found the cytotoxicity of this herb against different cell lines. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the ethanolic extract of E.scaber in inducing apoptosis by observing itseffect on caspase cascade. This ethanolic extract was obtained by maceration method using 96% ethanol. It was f...

The caspase cascade in Drosophila is controlled primarily by DIAP1 (Drosophila inhibitor of apoptosis), which exerts its regulatory effect by targeting the initiator caspase DRONC for proteasomal degradation. Proapoptotic signaling stimulates autoubiquitination by DIAP1 and frees DRONC to activate the caspase cascade. We used RTPCR for expression profiling of Drosophila S2 cells and determin...
متن کاملSynergistic Effect of Subtoxic-dose Cisplatin and TRAIL to Mediate Apoptosis by Down-regulating Decoy Receptor 2 and Up-regulating Caspase-8, Caspase-9 and Bax Expression on NCI-H460 and A549 Cells
Objective(s): Although tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) can selectively induce apoptosis in tumor cells, more than half of tumors including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) exhibit TRAIL-resistance. The purpose of this study was to determine whether subtoxic-dose cisplatin and TRAIL could synergistically enhance apoptosis on NSCLC cells and investigate its under...
متن کاملTherapeutic potential of genistein in ovariectomy-induced pancreatic injury in diabetic rats: The regulation of MAPK pathway and apoptosis
Objective(s): Genistein, as a phytoestrogen found in legumes, has several biological activities in general and anti-diabetic activity particularly. In this study, we investigated the effect of genistein on proteins involved in β-cell proliferation, survival and apoptosis to further reveal its anti-diabetic potential in the ovariectomized diabetic rat. Materials and Methods: We used three-month-...
متن کاملDown-regulation of inhibitor of apoptosis levels provides competence for steroid-triggered cell death
A pulse of the steroid hormone ecdysone triggers the destruction of larval salivary glands during Drosophila metamorphosis through a transcriptional cascade that converges on reaper (rpr) and head involution defective (hid) induction, resulting in caspase activation and cell death. We identify the CREB binding protein (CBP) transcriptional cofactor as essential for salivary gland cell death. We...
